I was strongly debating this post. Do I blog or not. There are two competing reasons for writing this or not. Although I think we all know which one won out.
Reason # 1 I am insanely busy and overwhelmed.
Reasons #2 I am insanely busy and overwhelmed so I need a de-stress break.
It’s a tough call. Especially when the pile of things you need to do is well over your head. You slip into thinking. “I should spend every single waking moment getting work done.”
Take it from the girl who woke up in the middle of the night and read a disturbing psych textbook as part of her homework at 3 a.m.
Sometimes you just need a break.
Especially when you life is toppling over. Even when you have to say no to a lot of extra things.
You still need to say yes to caring for yourself.
St. Josemaria Escriva said “Half an hour’s meditation each day is essential, except when you are busy, then a full hour is needed.”
He got it. The fact that when you are stressed out and have a ton of things to do you need more time to care for yourself-not less.
So make that cup of tea. Drink that afternoon iced coffee while writing out your blessings or reading a blog post. Watch 10 minutes of your current netflix obsession after you finish one of your tasks.
Reward yourself. Soak in the moments. Breathe. Don’t forget to laugh and remember that soon this will all be a blur.
