The hidden power of morning

This morning I woke up at 6 a.m. for absolutely no apparent reason.

Unsure of what to do I went downstairs to look out the window where the snow was softly falling. It was all quiet, still and dark. I settled into watch some episodes of Melissa and Joey (judge me and my tastes if you dare). I made breakfast, I washed dishes. All in the relative serenity that is morning.

I then got dressed, managed to do my make-up, worked on taking out the trash and started purging items to get rid off.

All before 8:30 in the morning.

I do not like to wake up and force myself to dive into a to-do list. When I do that I lose these precious moments. Instead by noon I feel like I have been working forever. Instead I take time to relax and rejuvenate.

The purging that I did this morning, just flowed out of what I felt like doing.

Obviously my rejuvenation could have been better (like a book & journal or even a blog post.) Still I forget the hidden power or mornings and the strength that can be found therein.

Do you have any favorite morning routines to peacefully prepare for the day?
